MB Financial Bank Bike the Drive is a Memorial Day Weekend tradition that brings thousands of bicyclists onto Lake Shore Drive while raising money for the Chicago cycling and transportation advocate, Active Transportation Alliance.

Start out at in Grant Park at Congress Ave. & Jackson Blvd. bright and early (5:30 – 7:30 am is recommended) in order to enjoy the most possible time peddling up, down and around Chicago’s scenic lakeside thoroughfare. Enjoy healthy snacks and refreshments at the Museum of Science and Industry Rest Stop to the south or the Bryn Mawr Ave. Rest Stop to the north as you take a break from enjoying 15 miles of open road.

When the riding is done, the fun continues with live entertainment by Groove Dynasty and Cirque Shanghai, games for kids and adults, raffles, shopping and more (including $7 breakfasts served by Goose Island) at the Post-Ride Festival back at the starting point. See how the Chicago community rallies around the greenest mode of transportation on the planet, the bicycle, as you celebrate the rare opportunity to steer your two-wheeled miracle along a car-free highway.

To Bike the Drive, all riders must enter Grant Park at Columbus Dr. & Jackson Blvd. Get there by 5:30 am to be among the first on the open road. You can begin your ride as late as 9:30 am, but all bikes must be off Lake Shore Dr. by 10:15 a.m. (Admission: $45 non-Active Trans members; $40 Active Trans members; $15 youth 17 & under; $58 day-of-event registration, which doesn’t include a T-shirt).
